Skits For Me


Skits For Me is a book of 20 one act plays on science and environmental education lessons. Sample skits include There's Fungus Among Us, Let's Have Some Defense, Cool Eyes, and River Walk. They are good for elementary and intermediate students. Cost is $10.00 and can be ordered through the office by calling (330) 502-1460.


One Day Sessions

Rock and Fossils
What Makes a rock a fossil? How are they formed? This presentation shows the importance of rocks and fossils, and presents real samples of what they look like and how to find them.
Approx. 45 minutes Grades: all

 
Dem Bones
Bones can actually be a great teaching tool, showing how animals adapt, what they eat and where they lived. This lesson is taught with real skin and bones, and covers a variety of topics from habitat to extinction.
Approx. 45 minutes Grades 2-5

 
Dinosaurs, Where Did You Go?
A fun look at dinosaurs and why they no longer walk, swim, or fly on this earth. A discussion on extinction and what is a change to one's environment.
Approx. 45 minutes Grades: K-4

 
Ohio Pioneers
Who were the pioneers of Ohio, and why did they come? Explore the beginnings of Ohio without roads, stores, and neighborhoods
Approx. 45 minutes Grades: 2-6

 
Being Healthy
Explore nine steps to being healthy in an entertaining manner. Includes a discussion on habits, and how they can affect health.
Approx. 45 minutes Grades: K-2

 
Rainforest Rule
Let's take a walk on the wild side of a tropical rainforest! This lesson explains the importance of rainforests and what they contribute to our society. Includes an activity to discover the layers of the rainforest.

Six Day Sessions
 

    F.I.S.S. Program: Our program addresses personal safety training as it applies to physical, emotional, and sexual abuse. It takes a preventative perspective in teaching youth ways to decrease their chances of being a victim. Grades: K-5th.

     30-45 minutes a session in the classroom

     Session 1- Secrets
     Session II - What Can I Do?
     Session III - Strangers
     Session IV - Friendship
     Session V - Peer Pressure
     Session VI - Conflict Resolution
 

     Kids Program: This program was designed to develop in each child a sense of self-reliance and independence by giving the child coping skills to use in different life situations and experiences independent of parental or adult supervision. Grades: K-2nd.

     Session I - I'm the only one like me
     Session II - Mall Safety
     Session III - I'm learning about fire emergencies
     Session IV - I can fix nutritious snacks
     Session V - I can keep myself healthy
     Session VI - Taste only what's safe for you
 

     Peer Proof Program: Studies confirm that friends are vital to developing a healthy self image. This program teaches children "friendship skills" and how to survive peer pressure by assertiveness techniques. Grades: 4-6th.

     Session IV - Peer Pressure Survival Skills
     Session V - More Survival Skills
     Session VI - Summary/Review
 

     A Gift of Giving: Children will develop and implement a community service project. Grades: 1-6th.

     Session I - Community Concept
     Session II - Needs Assessments and Project Choice.
     Session III - Planning and organizing a project
     Session IV - Project Day
     Session V - Reflection, Recognition, and Celebration
     Session VI - Summary/Review
 

     Imagine No Hunger: The purpose of this project are to develop an awareness about hunger, to create a sense of hope for an end to hunger, and to take action to make a difference. Grades: K-6th.

     Session  I - Understanding of Food and Hunger
     Session II - Hunger globally and locally; Myths
     Session III - Informing and planning a service project.
     Session IV - Celebrating the completion of the service project and ceremony
     (This program only consists of 4 sessions)
