FCC SIMPLIFIED ONLINE FILING SYSTEM

Those who have previously tried to navigate the FCC’s complex and confusing ULS system have a pleasant surprise awaiting them.  

The old system is gone and the new user-friendly version is much easier to use.  If you already have your FRN (FCC Registration Number) 

and Password assigned the act of renewing a license, replacing a lost license, changing an address or applying for a vanity call has been 

greatly simplified.  Just go to: https://wireless2.fcc.gov/UlsEntry/licManager/login.jsp.

Fill in your FRN and password and proceed to follow instructions on subsequent pages.  If you do not have an FRN and Password go to

 http://wireless.fcc.gov/uls.  On the first page that comes into view find the tab marked REGISTER and click on CORES/CALLSIGN.  

On the next page click the dot for REGISTER NOW then click CONTINUE.  On the next page click the dots for INDIVIDUAL and YES 

for Address in USA and click CONTINUE.  The CORES registration page will them come up.  Fill in your first and last name 

(salutation and middle initial optional) and your Social Security number.  In the Contact Information portion fill in Address Line 1 with your 

street address as well as City and select your state, then fill in your zip code.  Phone, fax and e-mail are optional.  Under CORES Password 

you can select your own password of leave this blank and CORES will generate a password for you.  If you select your own password fill 

in a “hint” that will jog your memory in case you forget the password.  When all this is done click on SUBMIT.  If you have failed to fill in 

any of the required fields you will be prompted to do so.  Within a minute of clicking Submit you will see a page with your assigned FRN 

and Password and Hint.  PRINT OUT THIS PAGE AND KEEP IT IN A SECURE PLACE!   You will then be instructed to CLICK ON

 THE FOLLOWING LINK to associate your call sign with your FRN number and Password.  The next page you see may already have 

your newly assigned FRN and Password shown.  If not, fill this information in the appropriate spaces and click on ENTER CALL SIGNS.  

On the next screen enter your ham call in box number one and click on SUBMIT.  Your call sign is now associated with your FRN and 

CORES registration

RENEWING YOUR VANITY CALL LICENSE ON LINE 

If you need to renew your license and you have a vanity call you wish to renew you will have to pay whatever the vanity fee is at the time you file your renewal.  At this writing it is $21.90 but it changes at least once every year.  You will be advised of the current rate as the renewal process continues.

Proceed with your license renewal as described on this MVARA web page then do the following:

Once you have followed all the procedures to renew your license you will be presented with a confirmation page showing all the information you have submitted.  DO NOT CLOSE OUT THIS PAGE!

To submit the fee for your vanity call you must now click on CONTINUE TO FORM 159  button which is near the bottom of the confirmation page.  Once again enter your FRN and Password just like you did previously to access your renewal information.

When the PAYMENT SUMMARY page appears click on PAY BY CREDIT CARD.

The next page will be the ONLINE PAYMENT PAGE.  Fill in all the required fields.  Then click on the button marked CONTINUE WITH PLASTIC CARD PAYMENT.

On the bottom of the page is the statement “I authorize a charge to my account for the above amount in accordance with my card issuer agreement”.  You MUST check this box or your transaction will not be processed.

If you wish to receive a confirmation of this transaction from the FCC be sure to enter your e-mail address in the appropriate place. 

Once you have double checked to make sure all your information is correct click on the SUBMIT PAYMENT button

CAUTION !!!!! Press the SUBMIT PAYMENT button only ONCE.  Pressing it more than once may result in multiple transactions!

You may want to print out a copy of your Payment Confirmation page for your records.

Your vanity call renewal should be acted upon by the FCC within the next three business days and your new license document should arrive via first class mail within two to three weeks.
