Shack of W8JV: (Truth in parenthesis)

My shack contains several piles of vintage (old) equipment along with a mixture of contemporary (not quite as old) gear. The collectors items (boat anchors) include two Hammarlund HQ180AX receivers, one of which is an "original owner" unit I bought new in 1964 at from Allied Radio. Remember them? Transmitters are a Heath TX-1 and Johnson Valiant II and my first ham rig, a cute (all I could afford) little Viking Adventurer 807 CW XR. Both phone transmitters have had the factory audio removed and replaced with home brew audio for better quality.

Modern (sort of) HF gear includes a Kenwood TS820S and TS830S, both with remote VFOs. Amplifiers are by Dentron and Ameritron (I like to see the neighbor's lights dim when I touch the key).

Outboard gear includes a Kenwood AT250 autotuner and Dentron 3 KW manual tuner, MFJ DSP filter, Grandmaster memory keyer, Kent single paddle key, WWV master clock receiver, several home brew antenna phasers, MFJ RTTY reader, T.E. weather station, assorted power supplies including a home brew supply for the linears, several rotor controls and two six position antenna switches that select 10 HF antennas from 160 to 10 meters.

VHF gear consists of a Kenwood TR9130 all-mode and an Icom IC255A dedicated to packet. And, of course, the obligatory computer and printer.

I particularly enjoy restoring (beating the dents out of) classic (old) equipment and have about a half dozen projects in various stages of restoration (rust removal) waiting in the wings (garage) including rebuilding an RCA broadcast transmitter for use on 160 meters. At 84 inches tall and 40 inches wide and tipping the scales at 1360 pounds it is unlikely (Bonnie sez "not a chance") that it will live in the shack (rat hole) but will be remote controlled in the workshop (also garage).
